Citrix UPM3 improves logon times.

The above article from Michael Glover shows that the improvements in UPM3 are significant. With the improvements being made in Citrix UP3 in both simplicity to manage the profile and also logon time enhancements is this now the standard starting point for profile management? If so does AppSense environment manager have a challenger in the profile management arena?
I am a big fan of AppSense and know how it can complement a solution by adding many layers of control. Process start-up actions, Group Policy, application lockdowns, are just the tip of the iceberg. However not all companies need this level of control or complexity. At what point does the simplicity of UPM3 reach a tipping point to the functionality of AppSense EM? 100 users, 1000 Users?
I see AppSense as the Enterprise solution and UPM as the Small-Medium business but I would love to hear other peoples opinions and hear about your implementations and how well they scaled out, especially UPM3.
